As many women know, childbirth is not always followed by a time of peaceful tranquility, and recent studies suggest that a third of mothers with severe ‘baby blues’ will develop Post-Natal Depression. In Western countries this translates to 1 in 10 women.

For these women, childbirth is a daunting and confusing time. Many women struggle with the demands of a new baby, for which they are not prepared, the loss of order and routine, the lack of sleep, the changes in their lives including career changes, the adjustment of their partner to the new baby and the partner’s absence due to work pressures or relationship breakdown. This emotional upheaval can lead a vulnerable woman to develop Depression.
Several of our Psychologists have been trained and are experienced in treating women with Post-Natal Depression. |
