Low Self-Esteem
As adults with low self-esteem are only too well aware, this is not something we want for our children.
Self-esteem is about how a person feels about:
- Whether they are satisfied with themselves
- Whether they have a number of good qualities
- How they rate themselves compared to other people
- Whether they are proud of themselves
- How much they value and respect themselves
- And how positive they are towards themselves
Research has shown us that having low self-esteem for pre-teens and adolescents is associated with depression and other serious mental health issues like Eating Disorders. As parents we want the best for our kids and we want them to feel good about themselves, but how do we go about raising their levels of self-esteem?
Individual and group counselling sessions can make an enormous difference to how a young person views themselves. Contact us for more information.
