Consultations

At PS Counselling, we understand just how difficult it can be to make the decision to seek help. Sometimes, a problem has been brewing for weeks or months before it has reached the point that you are no longer able to cope without help. Other times, events escalate almost overnight. We have a clear system of Intake and Consultations designed to minimise the anxiety you might feel embarking on the process of counselling.

Referral : The majority of our clients are referred to our practice by their Doctor or through a friend or family member who has worked with one of our Psychologists. The Doctor will often complete an assessment and a Mental Health Care Plan, and you will be expected to phone our rooms to make an appointment. However, new clients do not need a referral from their Doctor to attend our service.

Phoning Our Central Intake (Triage) Line: All our new clients phone through on our Central Intake (Triage) Line and speak with our specially trained Practice Managers, Karen Glass and Emma Hepples. You may wish to disclose in broad terms an overview of your problem (eg. “my Doctor has referred me for anxiety”) and Karen or Emma will discuss suitable times for consultations, and any individual needs, and allocate a suitable Psychologist for your sessions.

Consultation Duration: Consultations run for 50 minutes.

Appointment Times: Our Psychologists consult between 8am and 7pm Monday to Friday.

Consultation Fees: Fees will be discussed during your Intake phone call. Rebates may be available – please click here to see more information.
